Comprehensive Home Performance Assessment

A whole-home diagnostic evaluation that combines multiple testing methods to identify the underlying causes of comfort, efficiency, indoor air quality, and HVAC performance problems. Includes a written report, photo documentation, and a prioritized improvement roadmap.

Building Envelope Assessment

Evaluation of how well your home's exterior shell — including insulation, air sealing, windows, doors, and penetrations — controls air movement, moisture, and temperature between conditioned and unconditioned spaces.

Why it matters: A leaky building envelope forces your HVAC system to work harder, allows pollutants and humidity to enter unchecked, and undermines the performance of insulation and mechanical upgrades.

A calibrated fan is temporarily installed in an exterior door to depressurize the home. The resulting airflow measurement quantifies how much air leaks through the building envelope, expressed as CFM50 and ACH50.

Why it matters: Uncontrolled air leakage is one of the leading causes of comfort problems, high energy bills, poor indoor air quality, and humidity issues. Blower door testing is also required for new construction Title 24 compliance.

Why it matters: An HVAC system that turns on is not necessarily an HVAC system that performs. Many systems operate at a fraction of their rated capacity due to installation errors, refrigerant loss, or airflow restrictions.

Why it matters: A Title 24 inspection is required any time a system is altered under California code. Without a certified inspection, the permit cannot be closed and the homeowner is exposed to liability, insurance gaps, and potential resale complications.

ECC (Formerly HERS) Verification

Third-party verification and documentation required for California energy code compliance — confirming that installed measures match what was modeled in the compliance documentation and issuing the required compliance certificates.

Why it matters: ECC verification is a mandatory step in the Title 24 compliance process for many HVAC alterations and new construction projects. It must be performed by a certified third-party rater — not the installing contractor.
